Robotic Drilling, Tapping, Milling, and End Milling for Large Workpieces

SELFEEDER DUO Robot Edition is an advanced machining unit designed to attach seamlessly to the end of the arm of an industrial robot, enabling efficient multi-face machining of large workpieces.

With the Duo Robot Edition, robotic drilling, tapping, high-precision milling, and end mill processing—typically challenging for robots alone—become not only feasible but highly effective.

By integrating the Duo, industrial robots transform into versatile cutting machines, offering unparalleled flexibility to approach workpieces from virtually any angle or position.

FEATURES

Spindle Feeding Mechanism

The feed mechanism uses a linear guide and a ball screw, and it is responsible for all the continuous operations of processing. The robot only determines the posture and performs positioning, for high-precision machining that does not depend on the rigidity and trajectory accuracy of the robot.

High Rigidity Slide Unit

When the robot reaches the machining position, the exceptional rigidity and straightness of the slide unit take over for accurate milling operation. This achieves optimum flatness that is difficult to attain with a standard robot by itself.

Equipped with automatic feed adjustment system (AFAS)

This system automatically changes machining conditions by detecting the machining load to the feed axis. It allows easy and efficient robotic machining without resetting the stroke for every machining condition change.

The effect of AFAS

Analyzes and adjusts to meet material conditions
Slows down the cutting feed rate and reduces the robot deflection
・ Automatically corrects  the machining start point of irregular and curved cast surfaces.

Detecting the moment the tool exits the workpiece
・ Slows down the feed rate to prevent burrs

Detects different layered materials when processing
・ Automatically changes to optimal machining conditions for each materials
・ Pre-stroke setting is not required for each material's thickness

#30 Spindle with Automatic Tool Changer (ATC)

Equipped with the ATC function as standard, multiple machine processes can be done with one machine, saving valuable space and cost. The dedicated tooling magazine makes tool changes quick and easy.
